Marvin Terban will reveal the three methods that have worked successfully for him over a long teaching career. (One of them is humor.) He will introduce you to the amazing teacher who set him on the path to the careers that have de ned his life, and he will demonstrate the classic methods she taught him that worked for her long before the touch-screen age.
Access to Books: Game Changer for Kids Donalyn miller
Children with meaningful access to books succeed at higher levels and experience greater engagement with reading. In this session, you will examine the current research on book access in schools, libraries, and homes; discuss intellectual and cultural access concerns like diversity and leveling; and explore resources and strategies for developing and sustaining high-quality classroom library collections that support students’ reading lives.

Calling all elementary school teachers, librarians, and administrators! Join in a conversation with Mr. Schu as he presents some of the best new picture books, early readers, and chapter books for emergent, transitional, and  uent readers. In typical Mr. Schu fashion, he will share book trailers, websites, activities, and interviews you can easily incorporate into lessons and booktalks to get everyone on your campus hurrying to your bookshelves to  nd the perfect book.
Audience matters: Engaging Student Readers through Community Katherine Sokolowski
Engaging our students with reading requires meaningful opportunities for students to respond to what they read and authentic audiences for their responses. In this session, participants will re ect on their reading lives and explore strategies and tools (both online and off) that connect students with other readers.
