‘W’ hen it comes to practicing a skill, most people think of around the idea of reading because when kids feel empowered
sports or music. But there's one skill that requires just to choose the books they want, reading doesn't feel like
as much practice and pays off with the greatest of rewards. practice—it feels like fun.
That skill is reading. _ I _ _ A
Without even knowing it, kids read more because they enjoy

Reading is the most critical skill because it is the foundation doing it, and in the process, build up their reading skills

for all other learning, and like any other skill, it needs to be significantly. Add in some exciting contests, an inspired theme,

practiced, developed, and refined. and an enjoyable event or two, and the Book Fair transforms
