GREAT Ideas
• Attend our new Webinar called “Go Wild With the Theme” to kick start your
Fair planning. Visit scholastic.com/cptoolkit.
• Follow #mybookfair on social media to see other Book Fair thematic ideas.
Also, check out the Idea Share site at scholastic.com/ideashare.
• Promote your Fair with special days on the calendar. February 14 is the
birthday of Clifford the Big Red DogTM, and April is National Pets Month.
• Not into dogs and cats? Create your own theme or let your Junior Crew come up with one that they’ll get excited about.
• Ask the cafeteria to theme the food during Book Fair week. Then give the dishes fun, themed names such as Pup-peroni Pizza. Call the lunch room the Kitty and Canine Café or the Cat-feteria.
Plan themed
dress-up days during the Fair. Encourage students to incor- porate their favorite book or character into their outfit. Some ideas include Meow Monday, Tail Tuesday, Woof Wednesday, Team Spirit Thursday for animal team mascots, and
Furry Friday.
Real-World
Story
Happy Campers Win National Contest! Stayton Intermediate/ Middle School Stayton, OR
Stayton Intermediate/Middle
School prepared the whole
school for a hike to their Book
Fair. Shoppers were greeted
with mountains, waterfalls, and rivers as they entered their “Oregon Nation- al Park” library. Raccoons, bears, hedgehogs, and even Big Foot inhabited the Fair. When the sun set, the stars came out as stringed lights lit up the library for evening events. Stayton’s Happy Camper Book Fair surpassed all expectations with their decorations, student activities, and local community involvement. Scholastic Book Fairs® was thrilled to award them first place in the Spring 2017 National Elementary School Contest!
