As the tried-and-true marketing adage goes, people need to see the same message seven times for it to stick, and promoting on social media lets you do that fast. Promote your Fair where your customers are: Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, and keep the following tips in mind:
• Post early and often! Post a save-the-date message for your parents as early as possible.
• Use the eye-catching graphics available in your Toolkit to promote your Book Fair. Posts with visual content, such as photos or graphics, are 40 times more likely to be shared than text alone.*
• Check out the Volunteer Tool in your Toolkit, which lets you post directly to Facebook and Twitter to gather more helpers.
• Your Book Fair homepage posts to Facebook and Twitter with one click, and promotes all your Fair details. Post throughout the Book Fair process, beginning with the Save the Date and Book Fair Countdown. If your school allows, post photos of young readers shopping the Fair. Parents and caretakers love to see their kids at school, and chances are, they’ll share your post with their friends.
• Don’t forget to share your results and thank your volunteers. Everyone likes to be recognized for their hard work, so a thank you and sharing fantastic results go a long way! And remember, most families don’t hear about the rewards your school receives, so show them (via images or videos) your Scholastic DollarsTM purchases, your teachers with their wish list books, and your students with their raffle winnings.
