GREAT Ideas
• Brainstorm simple, clever slogans that promote your Fair, books, and reading. Repeat those slogans in phone calls, letters, emails, posters, and social media to help it stick in parents’ minds.
• Start advertising early! Share Book Fair teasers three to four weeks before you kick off Book Fair week.
• Maximize the power of social media. Share your Book Fair home- page through social media channels. Toolkit keyword: SOCIAL MEDIA
• Follow #mybookfair for advertising ideas from our professionals and your fellow chairpeople.
• Use all of the advertising materials provided in your Planning Kit, including the Author Video*, posters, and booklist flyers.
• Use the Book Fair Decoration Kit, available for purchase in the Scholastic DollarsTM Catalog, as advertising pieces. Set up the deco- rations in a window display or on a bulletin board with the dates of your Fair.
• Place plenty of banners, bandit signs, and directional arrows around the school.
• Show students the Book Fair commercials. Play them three weeks before your start date and during the Fair. Find them at: scholastic. com/bookfairs/studentcommercials
• For the booklist flyer, attach a pre-written parent letter from the Toolkit or a label with the dates of your Fair. Send home with each student one week before your Fair. Tookit keyword: PARENT LETTER
• Play the Author Video DVD* over closed-circuit TV or share the online link so teachers can show it anytime. Find it at: scholastic.com/ bookfairs/fallesvideo. Play the looping version at the Fair! Toolkit keyword: AUTHOR VIDEO
• Encourage teachers and Junior Crew members to share booktalks — in class, over the PA during morning announcements, or roaming throughout the school. Toolkit keyword: BOOKTALK
