Fair Logistics
Use the Chairperson’s Toolkit Fair Planner. Attend a workshop or new webinar.
Decide on a space for your Fair and hours of operation.
Determine goals.
Volunteers
Recruit volunteers using banners, social media, flyers, and the Volunteer Tool.
Start recruiting Student Crew members six to eight weeks before your Fair.
Review pages 8-9 to develop your Student Crew recruitment plan.
Advertising
Start planning your advertising campaign, including DIY posters, announcements, and more.
Customize your Book Fair homepage in your Chairperson’s Toolkit and utilize social media.
Set up a countdown to the Book Fair display 30 days out.
Events, Programs, and Activities
Schedule Book Fair Previews, Family Events, and Grand Events.
Decide on a theme.
Develop ideas for your theme, contests, and All for BooksTM campaign.
1-3 Weeks Before
Fair Logistics

Confirm your tax requirements and tax rate.
Volunteers
Use the Volunteer Tool to recruit and remind volunteers.
Ask volunteers to make props, create a Classroom Wish List board, and download resources.
Assign roles to your Student Crew.
Advertising
Build your goal chart and promote your goal.
Send out emails and include a link to your homepage.
Create a countdown on social media and include #mybookfair.
One week before your Fair, begin showing the Author Video DVD** to students (also available online).
Hang posters, place yard signs, and advertise on your school marquee.
Distribute booklist flyers with a letter from the principal one week before the Fair.

Share booktalks with students.
Events, Programs, and Activities
Start setting up Book Fair decorations.
Schedule student previews and distribute copies of the Student Wish List.
Launch your All for Books campaign two weeks before your Fair.
