Kiera Parrott is the reviews director for Library Journal (LJ) and School Library Journal (SLJ), where she oversees the review of more than 14,000 titles annually. Before joining the journals, Kiera was head of children’s services at Darien Library (Connecticut) and began her career as a librarian at the New York Public Library. Pernille Ripp, since she was a child growing up in Denmark, knew she wanted to work with kids. She began her journey in education as a math resource teacher, and then transitioned into the classroom as a fourth- and  fth-grade teacher. Now she has found her home as a seventh-grade English teacher in Oregon, Wisconsin. Pernille is also a speaker, author, blogger, mom, and passionate advocate for education. She’s an award-winning expert in literacy and technology integration and dedicates her life e orts to uplifting engaged and empowered students. She is the founder of the Global Read Aloud that has connected millions of students in more than 85 countries. Mr. Schu (AKA John Schu) is a blogger, a part-time lecturer at Rutgers University, and the Ambassador of School Libraries for Scholastic Book Fairs®. Every day is a giant book party for this teacher-librarian! In fact, Library Journal named him “The Xtreme Librarian” for the high level of exertion — along with some gears and stunts — he uses to get kids reading, and Instructor Magazine named him a “Cool Teacher” for rede ning what it means to be a teacher- librarian. John served on the 2014 Newbery committee, which named the
title Flora and Ulysses: The Illuminated Adventures “the most distinguished contribution to children’s literature.” John is one of the contributors to The Creativity Project: An Awesomeatastic Story Collection and blogs daily at MrSchuReads.com.
