PRESENTERS
Lynmara Colón brings the perspective of a teacher, assistant principal, and principal—positions she has held since joining education in 2003 — to her work in literacy. As principal of Mary Williams Elementary School in 2014, she served over 1,000 students in grades kindergarten through  fth grade and was able to increase reading engagement by leading a culture of literacy. She now heads the o ce that provides comprehensive registration services to English learners and immigrant children, including translation and interpretation services, to a school division serving over 90,000 students. These students represent 124 countries and 149 languages. Lynmara holds two master’s degrees: a degree

Mahnaz Dar is a reference and professional reading editor at School Library Journal (SLJ) and Library Journal (LJS). She is the editor of the annual Reference Supplement, and she also handles (and loves) graphic novels. Mahnaz has helped shape and teach the curriculum for the LJS Diversity and Cultural Competency Workshops for librarians and is committed to making children’s and YA Lit a more inclusive place. Chad Everett currently serves as a middle-school literacy coach in northern Mississippi. He is a self-proclaimed literacy and technology geek. His knowledge of e ective technology practices to enhance student learning, coupled with
his passion for literacy, makes him a signi cant resource in the school district where he works. He previously served as an instructional technology specialist and educator in student discipline where he examined the power of restorative discipline practices to transform the student discipline process. He continues
to bring all he has learned from his previous roles to his current practice with students. Chad is also deeply involved with community adult literacy, believing the change needed to transform education extends beyond the school’s walls. Find him on Twitter @chadceverett.
