• Promote your events using social media. Send save-the-dates and lots of reminders three to four weeks out to get on families busy calendars. Toolkit keyword: SOCIAL MEDIA
• Schedule multiple events before, during, and after school so all family members have the chance to attend.
• Combine your Family Event with an already scheduled event, such as parent/teacher conferences, open house, or a school festival. Take advantage of an event already on their calendar!
• Promote your event with emails, flyers, and kids or teachers wearing sandwich boards during car line.
• Serve finger foods, have fun activities, and feature shopping at the Book Fair.
• Ask local businesses for food donations, gift card giveaways, or discounts on items for raffles.
• Enable the RSVP feature on your Book Fair homepage.

An All-Star Luncheon Gets a Gold Star for Participation
Antonia Middle School
Barnhart, MO
The Book Fair chairperson at Antonia Middle School took his Family Event to an all-star level. The Student Crew set up a luncheon
in the library, complete with star decorations in school colors and a custom-designed bookmark gift. Guests were invited to bring their own lunch or purchase one from the cafeteria. Drinks and desserts were provided, and shopping at the Book Fair together was the highlight! At the luncheon alone they sold $1,300 in books, helping them have their most successful Book Fair to date!
