Grand Events
Invite grandparents to attend these successful Book Fair events.
Bene ts
• Gives kids a chance to spend time with their loved ones and learn more about each other
• Helps build kid’s home libraries
• Provides another avenue for increasing Fair
participation and sales
GREAT Ideas
• Invite grandparents, relatives, aunts or uncles,
neighbors, or devoted caregivers. They are eager to participate at their student’s school but often get overlooked.
• Plan grandparent visits for different days of the week instead of holding one big event. Try grouping visits by grade levels.
• Keep the food simple — light appetizers and easy snacks. Consider hosting it as a breakfast event with donuts and coffee.
• Recruit Crew members to help with event promotion and customer service.

Tips for Hosting a Grand Event:
Whether this is your first time hosting a Grand Event, or you host one every Book Fair, here are some tips for making it a success.
Pick a day that doesn’t have other major Book Fair events happening.
Plan for extra volunteers to be on hand to greet guests and provide directions.
Group visits by classes or grade levels, spreading them throughout the day or as a special morning for each grade level.
Send out invitations two to three weeks in advance.
Make sure to plan plenty of time for shopping the Book Fair!
*The Online Fair is not provided to “Buy One, Get One Free” Book Fairs.
