Family Events
Arrange an arts
and crafts area where families can work on themed creations together. Or, let students create crafts earlier for their families to see on display at the Family Event.
Benefits
• Invites parents to serve as reading role models for their children
• Promotes a reading culture in the home
• Builds home libraries
• Provides parents time to see what subjects interest their children
• Enter kids who bring a parent with them in a raffle. • Serve finger foods, have fun activities for all ages, and
feature shopping at the Book Fair.
• For younger siblings, set up tables where they can

giveaways, or discounts on items for raffles.
• Find out how many families are planning to attend your event by adding events to your Book Fair home- page. Parents can easily RSVP so you can plan better!

• Promote your events using social media. Send save-the- dates and lots of reminders three to four weeks out to get on busy family calendars. Toolkit keyword: SOCIAL MEDIA
• Schedule multiple events before, during, and after school so all family members have the chance to attend.
• Combine your Family Event with an already scheduled event, such as parent/teacher conferences, an open house, or a school festival. Take advantage of an event already on their calendar!
• Promote your event with emails, flyers, and kids or teachers wearing sandwich boards during car line.
