PRESENTERS
Maggie Hoddinot has served as Mamaroneck’s Literacy Ambassador since 2015. In this role, she works to ensure all students have rich, literate lives by curating classroom libraries, matching readers with books, and fostering community partnerships. Maggie previously served as a classroom teacher, reading recovery teacher, and teacher of deaf/hard-of-hearing students in Tucson and the Bronx. Jennifer LaGarde is a lifelong teacher and learner, with over 20 years in public education. Her educational passions include leveraging technology to help students develop authentic reading lives and meeting the unique needs of students living in poverty. A huge fan of YA Literature, Jennifer currently lives, works, reads, and drinks lots of co ee in Olympia, Washington. Dr. Alice Lee is the proud principal of Richmond Street School. She has been an assistant principal, teacher, instructional coach, professional developer, and school site coordinator. She has also taught abroad in Korea and Thailand as an English teacher. Dr. Lee guest lectures at Vanguard University’s Graduate Education Program on curriculum design and instructional pedagogy. She is a three-time UCLA graduate and completed her doctorate in educational leadership with
her dissertation focused on exploring lesson study as an improvement strategy for high-stakes accountability schools, students, and teachers. She has an Ed.D. in educational leadership, M.Ed. in elementary education, and administrative credential. Find her on Twitter @dralicetlee.
Donalyn Miller is a leading expert on independent reading, children’s literature, and the author of two best-sellers, The Book Whisperer and Reading in the Wild. She is founder of the annual #bookaday event, co-founder with Colby Sharp of The Nerdy Book Club, and co-host of the monthly Twitter chat, #titletalk. Her most recent book is co-authored with Colby Sharp, Game Changer! Book Access for All Kids.
