Reading Activities
Create a reading culture that lasts beyond Book Fair week.

• Introduces students to new Book Fair titles and classics • Gets students talking about books and reading for fun • Promotes independent reading
GREAT Ideas
• Conduct a Get Caught Reading campaign. Hand out raffle tickets to kids spotted reading and let them redeem at the Fair in the raffle contest. See Contests on page 25.
• Select Crew members to become booktalkers. Have them visit classrooms and share booktalks. Find booktalk preview packs* in the online Scholastic DollarsTM Catalog and in the Toolkit. Toolkit keyword: BOOKTALK
• Ask teachers to post their book recommendations in and outside their classroom.
• Challenge kids to read for 20 minutes a day over 20 consecutive days
in the Scholastic 20 for 20 Family Reading Challenge. Share your success stories using #read20 on social media. Toolkit keyword: 20 FOR 20
Create a quiet space
for students to read during their study hall or media time. Give students who get caught reading or share a booktalk extra reading time at the Reading Ranch as
a reward.
p Talk it up. Have students share booktalks over
