Recruit volunteers to help reach Book Fair goals.

• Gives parents an opportunity to participate at their child’s school
GREAT Ideas
• Start recruiting volunteers six to eight weeks before your Fair.
• Share volunteer opportunities through PA announcements, school newsletters, letters home, school events, the Book Fair homepage, and the NEW-and-IMPROVED Volunteer Tool in the Chairperson’s Toolkit.
• Include students! A student volunteer team, or Junior Crew, utilizes resources and talent you already have while empowering kids.
• Assign volunteers different roles. Divide into committees, such as All for BooksTM, decorations, etc. Toolkit keyword: VOLUNTEER ROLES
• Provide a list of jobs with time commitments and descriptions for each volunteer role. Toolkit keyword: VOLUNTEER ROLES
• Provide snacks, water, and easy, but thoughtful, gifts to your volunteers.
• Thank volunteers using a special social media badge and cus- tomizable thank-you email, found in the Volunteer Tool. Toolkit keyword: VOLUNTEER THANKS
• Invite volunteers to your Book Fair Preview. See pages 14-15.
p Calling all volunteers! Create a “volunteers needed” A-frame sign. Place it near the carpool lane six to eight weeks before your Fair. Toolkit keyword: VOLUNTEER SIGN
• Ask fathers at your school to get involved in the Book Fair. Groups like Watch D.O.G.S. are fathers and father figures who volunteer to serve at a variety of school activities. For more information go to DadsOfGreatStudents.com.
p Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students!) Recruit Watch D.O.G.S. to move cases, set up tables, and pack up the Fair.
p Sniff out great books! Assign some Watch D.O.G.S. p Dinner duty. Enlist Watch D.O.G.S. to set up, customer service jobs. Encourage them to learn the prepare, and serve easy meals like grilled hot Fair layout and help students find the right books. dogs during your Book Fair Family Events.
