STEP 3:
RECRUIT VOLUNTEERS
Start recruiting at least six to eight weeks before your Book Fair, earlier if possible. (NOTE: It’s never too soon to look for volunteers. Some schools start as early as three months out!)
Share your online sign-up sheet via email and on social media using the Volunteer Tool. Be sure to utilize the integrated address book to easily email your sign-up sheet to multiple contacts.
Share your Book Fair homepage with families through emails, letters home, and on social media. Attach a printable version of your homepage to the booklist yer and send home with your students.
Post recruitment posters and notices throughout your school in high-traf c areas. Promote your search through all communication channels, including the outdoor marquee, newsletters, and email.
Ask teachers, students, parents, and extended family

members to volunteer or recommend possible volunteers.
Consider groups outside your school, such as:
• Grandparents, retirees, and retired educators
• CivicclubslikeKiwanis,RotaryClub,LionsClub,and
women’s groups
• Formerstudentsnowinhighschool • Publiclibraryvolunteers
JUST ASK.
Make phone calls, coordinate phone blasts, and send text messages to enlist help.
Establish a volunteer chain. Recruit two volunteers and ask each one to nd another volunteer. Then ask every new volunteer added to the chain to nd another until your team is assembled.
Publicly recognize volunteers on a bulletin board as they register as a way of motivating students to recruit their parents.
See the last page in this Volunteer Guide for tools and resources to help you recruit volunteers.
