SUMMER READING

Ignite a reading culture at your school that lasts beyond Book Fair week and into the

summer!

Studies show having a book fair and allowing kids to choose books they love

for their summer reading has as much effect in preventing the summer slide as if they

attended summer school*.

But having the right books is only the first step. During your Book Fair, strengthen good

reading habits with motivating programs like READ 100,000 and What Would You Do

for Reading?

®

Students join a school team and attempt to read 100,000 minutes or

more, tracking their minutes online while working towards a fun What Would You Do for

Reading? reward.

Once summer hits, keep up the momentum with the Scholastic Summer Reading

Challenge featuring Read for the World Record. With these two programs, school teams

track reading minutes in an attempt to set a new global world record!
